INTRODUCING ELEVATE MEDICAL HUB

Dear Reader

As you know I was hoping to be in my new practice in February or March and as April draws near it is clear that isn't going to happen. Hence an update on where we are up to and what is happening.

The first thing to say is despite any rumours you may hear, I AM still practicing from Bowenfels Medical Practice (now known as Ochre Medical Centre Bowenfels) so all existing patients can continue to see me there as normal - this will continue until I am ready to move to my new practice. Appointments can be made as normal on 6325 2533.

My new practice is called ELEVATE MEDICAL HUB.

It will be located at 1115 Great Western Highway, Lithgow.

Some questions I have been asked which I would like to answer for everyone:

• YES - I am most definitely still a GP and will continue to offer "normal" GP services from Elevate Medical Hub. I am not looking to transition entirely to sports medicine and leave my GP patients in the lurch! The majority of my work will remain General Practice. In addition to my specialist GP training and qualifications I do have specialised additional formal training and qualifications in both sports and lifestyle medicine and look forward to offering these specialised services from Elevate Medical Hub in addition to, not instead of, General Practice.
• There is parking on site.
• I will be the only doctor when the practice starts - supported by an fantastic practice manager/reception team of one to begin with (Jane Whitney who many of you will remember from her previous time at Bowenfels) and hopefully a part time practice nurse soon after. With time I hope to have more GPs and a variety of allied health providers join me at Elevate Medical Hub but to begin with and until other people jump on board - yes I will be a one woman band but with fantastic administrative support!
• I am not yet certain how the transfer of patient records will work from Bowenfels - this is a work in progress. I will keep you updated as I know more.

As excited as I am about opening Elevate Medical Hub to you all, I do not as yet have a timeframe for this. I am waiting for assessment of my DA to Lithgow Council for a change of use of the practice building and unfortunately the timeframe for this process remains uncertain and entirely out of my control.

In the meantime we are progressing with all the other necessary things for us to open. Opening a new medical practice is an enormous undertaking but one I am relishing. I have received a huge amount of support locally. In return I strongly believe in supporting local small business and I have deliberately chosen local trades and suppliers wherever possible.

I am so looking forward to sharing the beautiful new space we are creating at Elevate Medical Hub with you all.
