WINTER SEASON VACCINATIONS

Dear Firstly, welcome to our many new patients! We are grateful when people choose to entrust their medical care to us and take this responsibility seriously. Partnering WITH our patients in your health care is a source of great professional joy and satisfaction for both Dr Webb-Sawyer and Dr Tamilarasan and all our staff. It is why we do this work and the reason Elevate Medical Hub was set up. FLU VACCINATIONWe hope you are all keeping warm now that our beautiful Lithgow winter has well and truly set in. In addition to the cold weather ramping up so are influenza (flu) cases. We therefore encourage any patient not yet vaccinated against flu this year to book in without delay. We still have flu vaccinations available for all age groups (above 6 months of age). Appointments with our practice nurse for flu vaccines only and no other matters on the day are bulk billed. These appointments are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. (A $25 fee applies for the vaccine itself for those patients not eligible for government funded flu vaccines.) We understand some people find it more convenient to have their vaccination while at the surgery for a GP or clinic appointment. We are happy to assist with this but please note an extra $30 consultation fee will be charged as no other Medicare funding is available for this service in this situation. RSV VACCINATIONSStill on the subject of vaccination, Respiratory Syncitial Virus (RSV) is currently circulating at very high levels in our community. RSV can be a very serious illness in older adults. Vaccination against RSV is strongly recommended for all people over 74 and people 60-74 with at risk medical conditions. It should be considered for all people 60-74 even without at risk medical conditions. Currently, it is advised as a single vaccine with no recommendation for booster doses. Unfortunately the RSV vaccine for older adults is not government funded. A small number of RSV vaccines (Arexvy) are currently available through Elevate Medical Hub at a cost of $330. Many health fund "extras" policies cover some of the cost of non government funded vaccinations - you may wish to enquire about this with your health fund. You are welcome to discuss the RSV vaccine option at an appointment with your GP prior to making a vaccination appointment with our practice nurse. Regards, The team at Elevate Medical Hub |

Dear Reader As many of you know I do some other medical work separate to Elevate Medical Hub to support rural general practice and general practice training in the Blue Mountains and Central West NSW. Elevate Medical Hub will be closed tomorrow Thursday June 20th as I am unavoidably working elsewhere. We are open as normal next week.
